It wasn’t easy, but it certainly was exciting as the Lady Raiders survived an upset bid from a game Worthington Kilbourne team on Thursday night at Westerville South. The Raiders pulled out a thrilling 60-57 victory when Mackenzie Davis banked in a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer as time expired. This came after Kilbourne had scored 8 straight points to tie the game at 57.
It was a game of runs from the start. The Raiders opened by scoring the first 11 points of the game, only to see Kilbourne answer and take a 29-27 lead into the locker room at halftime. After trailing 35-31 in the 3rd quarter, the Raiders caught fire from 3 in the latter part of the 3rd and led 51-43 at the end of the quarter. Brooklyn Pannell led the charge from deep, scoring 13 of her game high 17 in the high scoring 3rd period.
The victory sends the 5th seeded Lady Raiders on to a District Final tomorrow (Saturday, February 27th) at Ohio Dominican University against 4th seeded Dublin Coffman. The game will tip at 1:00pm on Saturday and offers the Raiders an opportunity to seek a measure of revenge against Coffman, who has ended the last two Raider seasons – last year in the District semifinals and in the Regionals in 2014.
