News · Girls Soccer: Raiders Dim The Stars 7-0

A Saturday night on the town, actually Centennial High School was the location for all the festivities. Your Purple Footies versus the Stars in a twilight match. Nobody wanted to miss watching the big Virginia Tech – Clemson game on TV.  If there was one item the Raiders had focused practice on it was possession football. Move the ball with a purpose, don’t just whack it away.

The starting lineup taking the very small football field size pitch and again pictured in the featured spot is the starting line up of Ry Buck, Caitlyn McKean, Isa Fuentes, Alyssa Shiffman, Alexis Langwasser, Kendall Craiglow, Brooklynn Golden, Julia Bazley, Shayna Newsom, Cassidy Collins and keeper Alissa Richmond.

The game winner was up and in after fifty seconds, the Raiders purloined the ball right from the Star’s kick off and Caitlyn McKean sent it up the left side to Isa Fuentes who promptly punished Star keeper Kaylee Beyer. Raiders 1 Centennial 0

One tally the Raiders did not get was off a direct kick, the Star Keeper came across the penalty box line to deny Ry Buck’s opportunity and illegally touch the ball. The foul was called and the net was empty, Ry seeing the keeper standing next to her 18 yards from goal quickly sent in a shot but Ry’s kick went slightly awry.

The first half was pretty much all Raiders as Isa Fuentes tallied another for a 2-0 lead. She was followed by Caitlyn McKean’s goal and MaryKate Watkins long score to complete the half. Raiders 4 Centennial 0

Second stanza was much like the first. Isa Fuentes completed her hat trick, Kendall Craiglow knocked in a goal and Ry Buck finished off the scoring to make it 7 – 0 Raiders. One JV player brought up saw her first varsity action as Madison McNamara went in as a marking back for the match’s last 15 minutes.

Alissa richmond was credited with one save and Star’s Kaylee Beyer 22. Raiders’ record is now 4-8.

Tuesday October 3 see’s the Raiders participating in the Boy and Girl Soccer double header on Pickerington North’s athletic facilities. The JV will play on the practice field starting at 5:30 pm followed by the varsity in Panther Stadium 7:15 pm.
