News · RHS Swim Team Succeeds at Sectional Meet

The RHS Swim Team participated in the OHSAA sectional meet at Upper Arlington HS on Saturday, February 10. The girls team finished 13th while the boys earned a 4th place finish with 125 points. Freshman Kasey Lichtner was the top performer for the girls squad; finishing 9th overall in the 100breast and 12th in the 50free while establishing a new school record with a time of 25:69!

The Raider boys had a multitude of placers. Junior Justin Barnhart earned 12th in both the 200 and 500free, senior TaJah Reynolds was 11th in the 100fly and 12th in the 100back, plus senior Tanner Wooddell placed 11th in the 50 and 100free. Also, junior Jared Davis earned 10th in the 100breast and 3rd in the 100fly and freshman Nate Gaver was 7th in the 100free and 4th in the 50free. Junior Harvey Culbert had another great meet with a 2nd in both the 200IM and 100breast. The 200Medley Relay team of Reynolds, Culbert, Davis, and Gaver finished 3rd overall while the 200free Relay of Davis, Wooddell, Culbert, and Gaver won the sectional in a new school record time of 1:30:65!

Our team had a great day with 22 of our 25 swimmers establishing a new personal best time in at least one event; not everyone can be the best but everyone can be their best!!

The Raiders return to action in the OHSAA Central/East/South District championship meet at Ohio University in Athens at 3:15 on Saturday, February 17. RHS will be represented by Kasey Lichtner, Harvey Culbert, Jared Davis, Nate Gaver, TaJah Reynolds, and Tanner Wooddell.
