News · Ry Buck Scores Five, Raiders’ Girls Soccer Team Defeats Watkins Memorial

As originally reported on September 1, Mother Nature decided to suit up for the first portion of the Watkins Memorial match.  All will remember that thunder and lightening brought the event to a halt with 23 minutes showing on the clock.

The starting line up for the final 23 plus next 40 was Cassidy Collins, Isa Fuentes and Ryanne Buck.   The middies were Katie Hatcher, Baylie Phillips and Alexis Sheffield; with a back line of   Polly Antrim, Sydney Frydl, Mary-Kate Watkins and Kendall Craiglow.  Alexis Sheffield tended the nets.

On September 1 all was going well with Ry Buck’s goal giving the Purple Footies a 1 nil lead.   The weather pulled the curtain down but September 29 promised to be a nice day.  Clear skies and a slight chill were in the early morning air.  The Purple Footies were still in a daze from watching and celebrating the football’s teams win against Pic North.  An early morning wake up was just what was needed to get the blood pumping again.

Twenty eight days and one minute separated Ry Buck’s second tally of the affair.  Ry pressured a clear out and purloined the ball. Rushing past the Warriors back line Ry was in on Elizabeth Romshe with a solid angle on goal.  Ry’s finish jumped the score up to 2-0.

Paige Castello got her first varsity playing time after Alexis Langwasser had a uniform malfunction, no shin guards.  Sent off by the arbiter, Paige rushed in as center mid and Lexi headed for the far end of the bench.  The elongated first half ended with the Footies up 2-0.

Not much was needed as adjustments, simply work on short through passes not just long balls forward.  A keeper change was conducted and Alissa Richmond grabbed her gloves.

The second quota of allotted time was constant pressure on the Warrior goal by your Purple Footies.  A thin thread keep the Raiders off the board.  Around 28 minutes Baylie Phillips snapped a pass thru a gap and Ry was off on a break away.  Ry twisted keeper Elizabeth Romshe and drilled home number two.  RHA 3 – WM 0

Pressure was constant and caused a Warrior hand ball.  A loud tweet and vigorous pointing at the spot set the stage for Ry Buck’s fourth tally.  Using her new turn away and watch the birds for a time, Ry turned and rushed the sphere on the Arbiter whistled tweet.  Ry’s shot zipped into the net with Elizabeth Romshe having nothing to say.  RHS 4  WM0

Cassidy Collins set up Ry Buck’s fifth goal of the morning.  Sending a ball in Ry, rushed past a struggling back line and notched number five.

Everyone played today and a few earned souvenirs for their effort.  Julia Bazley got knocked in the back of her head, Alexis Langwasser got hers straight in the mug and Hana Fishatsion twisted her knee.  The Watkins Physio was busy on the Raiders side.

Record 8-4-1

Up next is Pickerington North on Tuesday, October 2.  Matches to be played on Baldwin with JV starting 5:30pm and Varsity 7:15pm.
