Raider Tennis Girls End 11-10 Season

Girls tennis ended the season with a winning 11-10 record, ending an exciting, eventful 11 weeks. Key varsity players were Hope Chaffin, Sarah Hoffmann, Alexa Matan, Katelyn Whetsel, Abi Swift, Nia Harris, Hannah Dodley, Feaven Gebrezgi, and Maelyn Cheng. Raider Tennis Coach Honored

Reynoldsburg High School head tennis coach Les Somogyi was honored last week by the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Wolff-Hagen Award, for service to Ohio’s high school tennis. Somogyi is an 18-year veteran boys and girls coach for Reynoldsburg’s tennis program. The award was given at the association’s annual convention and clinic in Columbus. Congratulations on


Girls tennis season for high school and junior high will start Monday, Aug. 3. at 9 a.m. First day of practice for both high school and junior high will be held at Summit Road campus tennis courts. Lisa Carroll named Jr. High Girls Tennis Coach

Lisa Carroll has been named Jr. High Girls Tennis Head Coach this Fall. Coach Carroll returns to the Raiders a few years after she led the Raider Jr. High and JV squads for a number of years. She is extremely energetic and enthusiastic about tennis and about leading the Raider girls’ season.

Boykins, Cheng named MVP For Girls Tennis Season

Juniors Jadelyn Cheng and Ciara Boykins were named Most Valuable Players for the 2014 Girl Tennis season. Cheng and Boykins played 1st Doubles most of the season where they guaranteed a win for the Raiders more than half of the time. Lady Raider tennis team defeated WEsterville South 4-1 in a dual match with all winning courts wrapping up the competition in straight sets. Winners were Diamond Person, Tori Bridges, Jessika Acosta-Gorman, Jadelyn Cheng and Ciara Boykins.

Barnes debuts her high school tennis career

Sophomore Megan Barnes started her high school tennis career Tuesday as she fielded 3rd singles on the Raider varsity tennis team. Barnes faced Gahanna’s Kathleen McGuff in a specially arranged short-court dual in which Barnes lost 21-13. Congratulations to Megan for her hard work in preparing for the match. Senior Jessika Acosta-Gorman went to a nearly 3 hour 3-set match to deliver the win to the Raiders in a traditional annual grudge match against Chillicothe.
